Wellington Maritime Museum

Finally the real truth is out about the former Wellington Maritime Museum which appears to have become a childrens playground. For some time maritime friends, mariners and visitors have wondered what happened to the world class and renown museum. They have wondered where all the ship models and maritime artifacts have gone. Today's Cook Strait News reports that the museum is celebrating its 10th anniversary - funny, as it was opened in 1972. Or have the Museums Trust really lost the plot.

"A real treat is that we have got one of the chairs from the chimpanzee tea party from the Wellington Zoo to add to the display" said director Brett Mason.  "Walking through the rabbit's hole in the museum wall will transport museum goers into the display that commemorates the tenth anniversary. When you come through the tunnel in the beginning we just want to throw you into it".

And the nail in the coffin "We want to build our collection away from the maritime setting and on to a more social one".
